- Lawcus Payments offers same-day Automated Clearing House (ACH) or eCheck deposits with per-transaction limits of up to $1 million.
- There are no additional fees. If you have subscribed to Lawcus, you will, by default, have access to Lawcus payments for free.
- Lawcus Payments allows you to charge credit card fees to clients when they make payments, but only in states where it is legally permitted.
- Our Trust Requests feature simplifies requesting funds or retainers from clients. You can create invoices and request funds directly from the trust account, streamlining the financial process for both you and your clients.

Lawcus – New Features February 2024
- Multiple Bill Recipients: You can now effortlessly share bills with multiple contacts without the hassle of manually entering each recipient every time. When editing or creating matters, you can add multiple recipients, making it a breeze to share invoices in bulk or individually.
- Xero Integration: You can now seamlessly manage tax, discounts, and credit notes directly from your Lawcus invoices, all effortlessly mapped to your Xero account. With this update, you can streamline your accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency every step of the way.
- Enhanced new Aggregation Option on invoices: Our improved invoice aggregation summarizes all your actions on a single line item. Not just that, we know how important it is for legal bills to be straightforward. That’s why the last page of the invoice has a thorough list of all the things that were done.
- Save and duplicate activity entries: You now have the option to save and duplicate the entries. For instance, if you frequently create similar activity entries in a matter, you can duplicate a new entry that you create, make any necessary adjustments, and save it as a new entry.
- New Permissions Finance information: With this new feature, Lawcus gives you greater control over your financial data. You can now grant permission to users in your firm to access the financial information of a matter or lead.
- Remaining Trust Balance: You can now choose to show the remaining trust balances on invoices to ensure that your clients are well-informed about their trust accounts. After deducting the outstanding amount from your trust account, Lawcus will automatically calculate your remaining trust balance.
- Option to Disable Primary/Secondary Tax per Line Item: Lawcus now allows you to disable primary and secondary taxes per line item directly within the invoices section with just one click, saving you time and minimizing errors.
- Two New Client Name Formats: Lawcus has introduced two new client name formats: ‘Last Name’ ‘First Name,’ ‘Middle Name’ and ‘Last Name,’ ‘First Name’. You can now choose your preferred name format from the organization preferences in the firm settings.
- New Merge Fields for Document Templates: You can tailor your document templates by mapping your organization details with the new merge fields.
*Now {Matter.Client.Name} will be displayed in ‘First Name’ ‘Middle Name’ ‘Last Name’ format.

- Spanish Support: Lawcus dashboard now supports Spanish language. This means that users can translate the entire dashboard to Spanish for their convenience and ease of use. Not only this, but the client portal also gets auto-translated to Spanish based on the browser’s location.

Lawcus – New Features June 2022
We’re back with another update in May. We’re super excited to tell you all about our advancements in the Intake Forms. Here’s a rundown of what we’ve built exclusively for you:
- Bind intake forms to custom fields: This release allows you to map any question types on intake forms to any custom fields to create or update matters or contacts that include these fields.
- Move workflows from one folder to another: Lawcus lets you organize your processes by grouping automation into folders. With this release, you can move them from one folder to another using the “Move To” option in the automation section.
- List View on Document Templates: List View allows you to quickly review, change, and update list data by viewing folders also in a list format.
- New filter option on Billable Clients: You may now filter billable clients by name, issues, date, and attorneys for your ease of use.
- New Options on Invoice Templates: Invoices templates allows you to see trust/credit balances on for the matters on the bill, display client email address on billed to invoice block and also see trust balances on trust requests.
- Updated Dropdown Behaviour: We’ve launched a series of advancements in our select dropdowns to offer you great user options all at one place.

We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks to make Lawcus even more powerful and useful for you. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve added some exciting new features to enhance your Lawcus experience!
- Automation Folders Organize your automation features by creating multiple folders to sort workflows, intake forms, and action templates! You can now create folders, multi-level folders, or even search within a folder in just a few minutes.
- Custom Fields Binding Custom fields can now be used on the workflows! By just using workflow automation, you can map any of your custom fields to the workflow information steps.
- Attachments on Email Templates4 Avoid the hassle of attaching documents manually when you send out emails. You can now add attachments to specific Email templates, so when you send emails using the email templates, the attachments will already be included.
- Workflow Updates
- Client Portal Invitations via Workflows Ditch the regular visit to matters every time you want to invite a client to the client portal! Using workflows, you can easily and automatically invite clients through the invite action.
- Workflow Subtasks When creating workflows and adding tasks, subtasks can now be included in workflows. This allows you to split tasks into individual components while saving time.
- Switch company/person for lead Lawcus now allows you to add leads by ‘Company’ name or ‘Person’ name while creating workflows. Now you can designate your leads automatically through ‘lead action’ in workflow automation.
- Create Time Entry Action You can now add time entries automatically in workflow automation without having to add them manually. It’s easy and quick, so you can track every billable hour through our latest time entry action.
- Create Expense Action Expense action has now been added to workflow automation! When you update a matter stage in a workflow, you can further add expense entries to it automatically through expense action.
- Create Flat Fee Action Tired of adding flat fee entries every time your billing process rolls out? Not anymore! With our latest flat fee action in workflow automation, you can add a flat fee automatically.
- Invoice Action Option With our new invoice action feature in workflow automation, you can map certain activities such as time entries, expense entries, as well as flat-fee with ‘estimated matter value’ or ‘custom fields’.

Launching exit conditions for drip campaigns and other new updates!
Exit & Entry rules for automation: Entry rules have been added to define when a workflow starts. / Exit rules have also been added to define when a workflow ends.
Activities: -View how many hours you work daily, weekly, monthly, etc. -Export time entries, expense entries, or flat fees from right here! Just click on export, and you can export to CSV, PDF, or XLSX. -Set your own filters, and Lawcus will save your preferences for you. -Set activities list filtered by an attorney to see only your hours. -Total amount is now added at the bottom of the activity dashboard.
Matters: ‘Use template’ option available to assign multiple users to a case with their custom rate.
Settings – Manage Your Organization: Turn off billing for a specific account by selecting the billing status as ‘inactive.’ You will no longer be billed for this account. -Admin can see which users have turned on 2-factor-authentication.
Transaction section under matters now has ‘withdraw’ option available. Contacts: ‘Withdraw’ option also available under Contacts->Transactions.
Invoices: -All columns are now completely sortable so you can now sort by matter or other preferences.

Matter custom rates and other new updates
Hey Lawcus Community! We have new updates for you! See a list of the new features we added for you!
- Matter custom rates (multi)- Lawcus now allows an unlimited number of rates to be added under each matter. This is helpful when multiple attorneys are working on a matter, and each attorney has their own rate.
- Send a bill to multiple contacts- Now, you can send invoices to multiple contacts and add a CC or BCC.
- Accounts – Lawcus now allows you to have one trust default account and one operating default account in the case of having multiple trusts or operating accounts.
- Leads – New options added under columns. Your leads dashboard is now able to show who referred the lead and when it was created.
- Workflows – ‘Matter tags’ and ‘matter stage’ fields have been added to workflows.
- Improvements to Invoices page. Ability to search and download invoices list.
- Right-click now available in new areas of our website such as matters and tasks, matter task details, and contacts.

Repeatable Related Contact Blocks for Intake Forms
Lawcus is happy to announce that we have released a new feature: Repeatable Related Contact Blocks for Intake Forms!
This further improvement will save you a significant amount of time during the intake form process and assist in staying organized with all related contacts. After selecting “related contact information” under question type, when creating a new intake form, fill in a contact name. Once a name is added, you have the option to make the related contact block repeatable to add more relationships (ex. Child).
Customization is also available to select which fields to display or remove and create your labels.

Launching integration with Dropbox, Google Drive, and One Drive for Lawcus
We are proud today to introduce the integration with Dropbox, Google Drive, and One Drive for Lawcus – A new and better way to manage your law firm. Our tight integration with these cloud storages will allow you to drag and drop files from your computer into Lawcus, and they will be synced to your native cloud storage account. You can create and view files/folders just like you do in their app without leaving Lawcus. For each matter, we will create a folder (Matter Number) in your cloud storage account.

Launching Conflict Search, Dynamic Merge Fields & more!
We listened carefully to your feedback and are excited to release new features that many of you have asked!
- Folders for Easy Document Management: New Folders feature to help you manage client documents with ease.
- Conflict Search: Full-text search allows you to search all text fields including custom fields across Lawcus.
- Dynamic Merge Fields: Now you can to automate document management for the different type of contacts. Suppose you added three witnesses on a matter and you would like to create documents for them. Now on document creation from a template, we will give you the option to select the contact you would want to generate the document.
- Improved Custom Fields: Ability to edit custom fields and groups, set required/ default and set their order.
- Improved Notes: Now you can edit notes.

Customize Date Format and Language!
By default, dates are formatted as mm/dd/yyyy. Now you can update this to the standard format used in Europe, Asia, Australia, or even select your custom format.
Go to the settings screen, click on team preferences and select the date format, language & currency.

Introducing Email and Calendar Integration (Google, Office 365 & Exchange)!
We are excited to share that now you can have two-way sync with your favorite calendar. Lawcus integrates with Google Calendar, Office 365, Outlook, and even the oldest Microsoft Exchange deployments.
We also introduce the easiest way to associate your emails and attachments with your matters, All you have to do is drag your emails in matter folders or labels. Pretty cool, right?.

- Improved search: Ability to search for matter numbers in global search.
- Generate invoice for unbilled items in two clicks: Now you can bill your clients for unbilled items with just two clicks. You can do this by clicking on the $ icon, then selecting the date range period for bill generation.
- Closed/ reopen matters: We made it easy to distinguish between open and closed matters. Also, now you can easily reopen the matter from the matter screen itself.

We’ve been hard at work since you last saw us. Now you can track all your client’s money with our Trust accounting and look at how we’ve made it easy to record phone calls, meetings, facts, and issues on the matters.
- Trust Accounting: Trust Accounting to help you manage your client’s money with ease and get paid. Ability to make payments, record transactions, transfer funds and mater to matter transfers.
- Matter Timelines: Ability to record and organize phone calls, meetings, facts, and issues on the matters. The user can also filter message stream by the activity types.
- Flat Rate Matters: The user can select flat rate billing or un-billable option for matters. For flat rate matters system will automatically generate a time entry for the flat fee amount.
- Default Billing Rates: Ability to set default rates for users and matters. Allows users to switch rates on time entries.
- Time Rounding: Enabling time rounding will allow you to configure the rounding increments for time entries.
