Since January 2026, our team has been actively working with Lawcus customers to refine many of the workflows used daily by law firms — from billing and time tracking to client management, matters, and workflows.
Many firms shared valuable feedback about areas where processes could be clearer, faster, or more reliable. Based on that input, we’ve made a series of improvements across the platform.
This release introduces 56 updates designed to improve everyday operations across Lawcus, including:

Billing & Financial Operations
Accurate billing is critical for law firms. This release includes several fixes to ensure invoices, trust transactions, and financial integrations work reliably.

- Client Rate Levels
- Firms can now better manage client-specific billing rates, allowing more flexibility when assigning billing structures.
- Invoice Workflow Improvements
- Enhancements were made to improve invoice generation and ensure billing information flows correctly between matters and time entries.
Issue Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Invoice Number merge tags were not auto-populating in email subject lines when sending invoices.
- Fixed an issue where invoice payment links were not attaching properly when sending invoices to clients.
- Fixed an issue where invoice balances were not displaying correctly in certain situations.
- Resolved an issue where invoices were appearing in an incorrect language in production environments.
- Fixed an issue where time entry totals did not match invoice totals in certain cases.
- Fixed a QuickBooks synchronization issue where line totals were not transferring correctly.
- Fixed formatting issues in the Trust Request description column.
- Fixed an issue where Trust Request record payment history was not displaying correctly.

Client & Contact Management
These improvements focus on making it easier for firms to manage relationships between clients, contacts, and matters.

- Tags Management Improvements
- Firms can now rename tags and assign colors, making it easier to visually organize contacts and matters.
- Matters Related Contacts – UI Enhancement
- The related contacts interface within matters has been improved to make it easier to view and manage associated contacts.
- Contacts Module Improvements:
- Updates were made to improve the behavior of the Contacts Only module.
- Intercom Contact Form Processing:
- Improvements were made to how Intercom contact form submissions are handled, ensuring client inquiries are captured reliably.
Issue Fixes
- Fixed an issue where relationship types added from matters were not functioning correctly.
- Fixed an issue where emails were not automatically including related contacts as recipients or CC.
- Fixed an issue where contacts could not be assigned correctly on interactions.
- Fixed cases where contact updates on the matter page did not save properly.
- Fixed an issue where backup contact exports were not properly including notes fields.
- Fixed an issue where leads were not appearing in the client dropdown for trust requests.
- Fixed an issue where email errors occurred when the contact did not exist in the system.
- Fixed issues affecting client lookup behavior across workflows.
Matter Management

- Firms can now mark a matter as Private, restricting visibility to only authorized users.
- Private Notes for Matters
- A new enhancement allows firms to add private notes at the matter level, improving internal collaboration.

- Fixed a NaN error when importing time entries.
- Fixed an issue where bulk editing time entries caused errors.
- Fixed an issue where non-billable checkboxes became unchecked when editing time entries.
- Fixed an issue where time entries created through add-ins were not syncing correctly with Lawcus.
